I am sure many teenagers believe sex with contraception will help eliminate the problem of pregnancy, but I personally do not think so. Since 54 percent of teens are virgins, most teens have not had sex. MacKenzie makes a great point saying that teens need to be informed. But they also need to be informed about the risks they are taking by having sex, protected or not.

Now teens do have hormones and do want to have sex, but have you seen kids today? Teens today are more intellectually challenged than ever before. They are not thinking about what store to work in after graduation, but what college to attend. They are multitasking by taking Advanced Placement classes and participating in sports, while also taking art and writing on the side. Personally, I have never seen so many over-achievers in my life. So these amazing people who can do all these things cannot even control their hormones?

The media and adults today presume that teenagers are walking hormone machines that must have sex and have no mental capacity to think about the consequences. Proving them wrong, the percentage of teens sexually active has gone down and will continue to go down as long as people are informed about the risks of STDs and pregnancy.
