WOODSTOCK – Officials in an Arizona city who planned to hire the former Lake in the Hills water superintendent postponed their job offer after learning that the man was awaiting trial on sex-abuse charges.

Robert Krause, 47, of 2523 W. Knob Hill Road, Johnsburg, was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse in December because police say he inappropriately touched a 14-year-old girl who was sleeping in his home.

A judge ruled last week that Krause could move to Buckeye, Ariz., where he was expected to begin a job as the city's wastewater superintendent and chief operator March 20.

But someone faxed a newspaper article about Krause's charges to the city, causing city officials to put the job offer "on hold," Krause's attorney, Mark Gummerson, said in a court filing.
